We are pleased to announce that we have invested in an Endoscope to be able to help diagnose throat and gastrointestinal issues, remove foreign bodies and take biopsies with less invasiveness and discomfort to our patients, together with avoiding extensive surgery, hospitalization costs and recovery.
We were able to remove pieces of chewed up plastic lodged in the esophagus, stomach and proximal duodenum (see video clip), together with a piece of dental floss. With this option, we were able to send our patient home a few hours later without going through surgery and extensive cost for the owner.
Granted, there are some cases that may need a surgical approach if the foreign material cannot be retrieved/lodged to the point it is more harmful to the patient then beneficial, but in most cases, endoscopy is a superior option and we are happy to offer that to our clients and patients.
